Project Status
We started meeting in September of 2004. We first saw the property in early October and purchased it in March of 2005. In the meantime we met with the City of Olympia for a Pre-Submission Conference in early February, 2005 and established our L.L.C. later that month.
We have had our meeting with the city of Olympia hearing examiner. He will issue an recommendation to the city council on whether our project should be allowed to continue, how many homes we should be able to build, and other more minor issues. We don't foresee any major issues blocking our ability to move forward. Next, we need to get permit approval to build an actual building, then our builder can get started with construction.
The Olympia City Council has approved our plan, with the restriction of building only 16 homes. We plan to purchase the rights to build 3 more for a total of 19 homes.
Groundbreaking and dirt moving is ready to take place. The "dirt work" should be completed by the end of September, at which point we can start building our homes!
Our site plan has not changed much. We have a circle design with the common house next to the parking lot.
Our building plans for A and B are pretty much finished and ready to go. The plans for C are close to being finished, but members interested in a unit in C can still have some input on the final tweaking of the design. Building D is expected to be very similar to C. And the rest is yet to be designed.
Here are some current (as of February, 2008) architectural drawings of our common house. We are still making changes and both the size and layout of the house is likely to change some more.
Currently, we have seven Full Members households, two Associate Members, several Prospective Members and assorted interested individuals/households.
